DR MARK TALLON, PhD LLM, MA CBiol CSci RNutr FSB FIFST

Mark is recognised as one of the leading authorities on performance nutrition specialising in nutritional biochemistry and ultra-endurance performance. He has dedicated his life to the pursuit of understanding the use of nutrition to enhance athletic performance. With 5 degrees related to the study of foods including a masters in exercise nutrition and PhD in nutritional biochemistry truly sets him apart in his knowledge of all aspects from science and legal use of foods.

He is a certified Ironman® coach as well as a chartered scientist (CSci food science), registered nutritionist (RNutr) and has continued his education to become a certified anti-doping coach and adviser via UKAD as is a member of the ISSN and has been part of its editorial review board since 2007. He has a Certificate in Nutrition Counselling from Cornel University (USA), and was vice chair of the European Specialist Sports Nutrition Alliance (ESSNA) as well as Chair of Institute of Food Science and Technology (IFST) with the later aimed of promoting healthy and legal foods that do not mislead but inform consumers.

Mark has been providing nutritional advice to ultra-endurance athletes for over 15 years including Ironman triathletes, marathon runners and extreme endurance athletes involved in events such as the marathon des sables.

However, he believes any coach or performance nutritionist cannot fully understand the needs of an athlete unless he has experienced the demands of the activity. He has completed multiple marathons, holds dan grade and teaching certificate in yoshinkan aikido and has completed 8 Ironman triathlons.
